Catching Prime
Catching Prime threads into your pump's drain port and stays installed during use. If prime is lost, connect a garden hose, turn the valve, and your pump primes in seconds. Also works for draining.
A precision-machined stainless steel ball valve with a male-threaded inlet (connects to your pump) and a standard garden hose fitting on the outlet. Install once into your pump's drain port, and leave it in place — the quarter-turn handle opens and closes in a single motion, so priming or draining is as simple as connecting a hose.
Built for outdoor pool environments with corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction and a sealed O-ring fitting to prevent leaks. Compatible with all major residential pool pump brands including Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, Intex, and Honda. Patent pending.

Catching Prime threads into the drain port on most residential pool pumps. It's compatible with all major brands including Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, Intex, and Honda.
If you have a standard single-speed or variable-speed pump made in the last 15 years, it almost certainly fits. Check your pump's drain port threading before ordering — if you're unsure, reach out and we'll confirm compatibility.
It's designed to stay installed between uses. Once it's threaded in, you can leave it — the valve stays closed during normal pump operation and doesn't affect performance. Next time you need to prime or drain, it's already there and ready. You can remove it seasonally or during service if you want, but most users leave it in year-round.
Under a minute. Turn off the pump, unscrew your existing drain plug, thread Catching Prime in by hand (or with a wrench for a snug fit), and you're done. No tools required for most installs.
Connect a standard garden hose to the outlet end of Catching Prime. Open the valve with a quarter turn of the handle. Let water flow until the pump housing fills. Close the valve, disconnect the hose, and start your pump. Most primes take 30 seconds or less.
